Hong Kong Visa Trip Part 3

Part 3

We chose to do the Big Buddha instead of Disneyland again. It was time to do something that Daniel wanted to do. Which is fine, since now we have an annual pass to Disneyland Hong Kong.

The Big Buddha is a huge bronze Buddha built in 1992 to house 1 of the 84,000 relics remaining from the cremation of Buddha. Sure. I know. Whatever. This a bone piece. It's a tiny sliver/fragment. That's not why people like us go. We go to ride the tram and see the Buddha.

This is the tram you ride up that mountain.
We went up on a cloudy day. It was a neat ride.
It was kind of eerie going forward with no visibility.
This is a fake wishing tree in the village at the top of the tram ride.
This is the Buddha we went to see.
There are 247 steps up to the main platform where the Buddha sits.
This is the view of the village from atop the hill.

We took the opportunity to go inside the Buddha to the museum that is in there and to see the Relic for which it was built.

It was an amazing angle to see such a large statue.

This is the gate to the Monastery that is also at the top of the mountain.
Those are all the stairs that we climbed.
On our way back down in the tram we noticed this path that goes up to the monastery. I found it interesting to spot it while we rode back down.

It was good morning. We got back down and back to the hotel around 2. Then we headed to the consulate to pick up our passports with our new visas in them. We got there with no problem and Daniel ran in and picked them up without problem. That was a relief.

Then we treated ourselves to an early dinner of lasagna at Pizza Hut.

Because in Hong Kong Pizza Hut is a nice sit-down Italian restaurant.
Then we went for a session and some temple work at the Hong Kong temple.
It was a lovely second day for our trip to Hong Kong.

We flew back to Xiamen on Saturday midday. I think Xiamen is starting to feel like home base in China now. Which is a good feeling. We were glad to be back "home" when we got there.

We have now cooked ourselves a couple of dinners and have more planned. I think we're settling okay.

What do you think?
