Wat Chalong

Wat Chalong is a Buddhist temple. It is quite large and has many buildings. There's not much to say about it. So this is mostly a picture dump.

I did not catch this cat in the middle of something. It was sitting there like that. I think it was too hot for him and he didn't want to be there.

This is from one of the smaller buildings.
A beautiful ceiling.
 Some of the detail.
The largest of the buildings, the main temple.

Apparently this is a problem there. Lovely.
The view from the top of the largest one of the whole complex. They were amazing buildings.

At the time we were there they were celebrating the Vegetarian Festival, or the Nine Gods Festival. Part of celebrating the festival is starting off by wearing all white. It was kind of pretty. These people were all preparing to worship and pray to Buddha. Those gold statues you see around at of Buddha. Sshh. Don't tell teh Thai authorities.
The last building.

One thing that they were doing, that we didn't understand at first, was lighting fireworks off at night all the time, and sometimes during the day. When we were at Wat Chalong they were lighting firecrackers off inside a large ceramic vase like thing. When I say large, I mean like 12 feet tall. It was very loud. Daniel didn't like it, but I thought it was kind of cool. I had hoped to record it, but we were in a hurry by the end.

After the temple we went to dinner and then drove around downtown.
This was our view as we ate dinner. The dinner wasn't great, but the view was pretty good. Then we drove around downtown Phuket. There were plenty of late 19th Century style buildings, but I didn't get any really good pictures. But day 2 was definitely a good day.

Day 3 was the, a few of the pictures have already been posted, but I'll add some video and some stories.
